One of the most common urban myths about installing a gas system into your campervan is that there aren't any regulations for fitting gas, if you are building the van yourself, and its only going to be you using it. That is just like adding an extension to your house and saying you don't have to comply with building regulations because it is only for your use!
Whether you are installing a gas system yourself, or we are installing one for you, it must be installed in line with BS EN 1949:2021, as this covers specifications for the installation of LPG (liquid petroleum gas) systems for habitation purposes in leisure accommodation vehicles.
For a van that is only going to be used privately, the regulations say that the installation must be carried out by a competent person as defined by the Health and Safety Executive.
If you are going to be hiring the van out, then the installing must be checked and certified by a Gas Safe engineer. This is not a service that we can provide, as we do not hold the relevant ACS qualification, but you can find people that are HERE.
